Patrik Antonius is one of the poker pros that I have the most respect for. The guy is an awesome poker player lets face it. When he is at the table the other players are never sure what he has, because he has to have one of the straightest poker faces around!

Even though Dwan seems to have clawed back some of the gap that Antonius opened up on him in the “Durrrr Challenge”, my money is still on Antonius to beat Dwan. Tom Dwan has moments of brilliance, but overall I think Antonius can grind him down. He’s one of the only players that can match Dwan’s aggressive play.

Dutch Boyd is considered as one of the most successful poker champions. He gained wide popularity amongst masses after he defeated the former WSOP champion Joe Hachem to capture his first gold bracelet added upon by a cash prize of 475,000 USD.

In his childhood, Boyd grew up in Columbia, Missouri and he attributes his poker skill to his grandmother who taught him the basics when he was 10. Boyd was totally into poker at the age of 15 and used to call over his friends at his home to practice and showcase his skills.

Boyd turned professional in the year 2003 when he was just 22 years old. He finished at 12th place in the main event and won Razz poker that year and since then there was no looking back. He specializes in many variants of poker with Stud Hi-Lo and Razz his special areas of interest. Boyd also performed well in the WSOP in the year 2007 and took home a ransom of $71,650 in prize money. The same year he also finished at fifth place in NLHE event.

What an incredible hand between Barry Greenstein, Peter Eastgate and Tom Dwan. What is so amazing at this hand is that Tom Dwan KNEW Peter Eastgate had a deuce, even wanted to BET on it, and STILL made that genius play. Barry Greenstein makes an almost standard laydown with the pocket aces, Peter Eastgate was basicly limiting his liability in a hand in which he could have been drawing absolutely dead…

Two aces. While some players light up with joy when looking down at “pocket rockets” in a game of no limit Texas hold’em, others become filled with dread. Why?

More than one player has seen his pair of aces go down in flames, taking his entire stack with it. If you’re a no limit hold’em player, how can you avoid being a loser with pocket aces?

Raise Pre-Flop

Some people like to get sneaky and limp with aces. In most cases, this is a big mistake. If you are in a very early position and think you can get another player to raise so you can re-raise, or as a very rare change from your usual tactics, you may consider a limp.

However, in most situations, it is very important that you raise pre-flop with aces. Firstly, you want to get money into the pot. If the pot is unraised, it will be very easy for opponents to get away on the flop if your aces are still best.

Secondly, you want to thin the field. The more players there are out against you, the better chance there is that one will catch something to beat you.

Most importantly, you need to find out where you are. If you raise pre-flop, you are likely to get called only by people with premium hands, meaning mostly big cards. On a flop of Q 8 7, you can be fairly sure that your aces are still best. However, if you fail to raise before the flop, your opponents could hold anything, from 56 to Q7, and when you bet, you will only get called by one of these well disguised hands that beats you.

Know When You Are Beat

There’s no law that says you have to put all your money in with aces. If you get two callers pre flop with two black aces and the flop comes T J Q all hearts, it’s okay to check fold. It’s great to get aces, but if they’re beat, they’re beat.

Don’t Go on Tilt

From time to time, you will lose with aces no matter what you do. In these cases, it is very important to keep a level head. It is just one hand and if you do the right thing consistently, you should come out ahead. Continue to play your best game and if you can’t, get up and play another day. Don’t Play with Scared Money

Scared money will be your budget for more important things like your rent, fuel, or food. These are necessities that you can not live without. You bankroll should be an amount that you can set aside for poker without having to worry about the necessities of life. This really is my NUMBER ONE POKER RULE. Playing with scared money is a HUGE mistake, and you WON’T PLAY YOUR A-GAME!

Determine your limits

Your bankroll will tell you up to which part of your chips you can sacrifice without the chest pain. The bankroll will determine which games you will sit down and play. If you can’t afford the high stakes then why play?

Limit vs No Limit

When you play limit games, the thumb rule is to have a bankroll that is around 300 big bets. No limit cash poker on the other hand call for more cushion. No limit games usually will need around 20 maximum buy ins or around 100x the big blind. That may sound simple but things can get pretty bloody in no limit games.

LOL this is sick. Mike Matusow can’t even hit a fifty fifty shot on the roulette wheel. Obviously this is a no-risk thing and King of Vegas is all about the no-brainer entertainment — but still, I never even expected mike to hit black there. In his words: he should have checkered himself.

I like the interview at the end, in which he’s just like in his famous Poker After Dark interviews… Got “unlucky” in the blackjack. LOL

I’ve been running real good these last couple weeks, almost doubling my bankroll in live poker games. After winning a couple thousand in the $2/$2 game I took a risk and took $5k into the local $5/$10 game and had a good run winning over $15.000 in the course of about two weeks…

I’ve decided to take $20,000 out of my bankroll and invest it in non-poker related things…

I know a real poker player is supposed to keep at it in the $5/$10 game but as I play poker non-professionally I’m happy with the profit and decide to move back down to the $2/$2 game, as I feel extremely comfortable there…
